Mandatory training for students

The following list includes mandatory training for students at the Department of National Defence (DND).

An additional list of available training courses can be found in the Defence Learning Catalogue (DLC) (accessible only on the National Defence network). You must discuss your participation in any additional courses with your manager prior to beginning any training.

Access courses on the Canada School of Public Service Learning Platform

All new employees are required to create a new account on the Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) learning platform.

New employees with an existing account on the Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) learning platform must update their organization and e-mail address in their account before completing any training. To update your information, follow these steps:

  • Sign in to your CSPS account
  • Select “Settings”
  • Select “Account information”
  • Enter your new information

Note: The current organization field must be set to Department of National Defence (DND) - Civilian/Employee.

Offered by the Learning and Career Centres (LCC). Please register using the link provided in your “Welcome to DND” email received after your start date. If you have not received an email, please contact DND’s Onboarding Team and include a copy of your Letter of Offer.

Public Service Orientation (FON301 & FON304)

This course is offered by the Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) and registration is done through the DND Required Training Coordinator (RTC).
