NDWCC Scrabble Challenge

Author: Heidi Robertson, Defence Team member

A huge thank you to the few brave souls who donated to challenge me in Scrabble!

I played 30 games, with one match in French. I saw lots of great Scrabble skills on display – with tons of cool plays, great finds, and awesome scores.

Only one player emerged victorious — defeating the Ottawa Scrabble Club Director (yours truly) and earning bragging rights hereafter. Congratulations, Dave W.!

It's a shame Scrabble Go doesn’t keep game logs, and I didn’t think to track games at first (Sorry Dave W. and Alex S. — but I include a screencap of Alex's win). I’ll add links to my view of the games I recorded in case anyone is interested. (I was hoping to have them all done by now but ran into internet issues so couldn't finish). There is a little analyzer tool in woogles.io (awesome Scrabble site where I entered the games) which you can turn on to see other available plays which can help improve your game! :P

*Please note that tournament Scrabble does not subtract unplayed tiles from a player's score, choosing instead to double the value and add it to the player's score who went out first. This means the linked games will show slightly higher scores than Scrabble Go.

Here’s hoping you will all consider checking out the Ottawa club or find one near you!
