Canadian Armed Forces Cyber Command (CAFCYBERCOM)

What we do

Canadian Armed Forces Cyber Command (CAFCYBERCOM) leads all Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) cyber operations, joint electronic warfare (EW) and signals intelligence (SIGINT). We help protect Canada’s digital systems, carry out cyber operations and support CAF operations at home and abroad.

In today’s world, cyberattacks can disrupt hospitals, power grids, military operations, and public trust. CAFCYBERCOM plays a vital role in helping to defend against these threats to safeguard Canada’s cyber sovereignty and ensure the continued security of our digital landscape.

As the cyber domain grows more complex, CAFCYBERCOM is ready, with people, tools, and partnerships, to help keep Canada secure in the digital age.

Specific tasks

CAFCYBERCOM supports CAF operations in many ways to help make cyberspace safer for Canada and its allies:

  • Defensive cyber operations: Secure CAF networks, platforms, and systems from cyber threats.
  • Electronic warfare (EW): Exploit the electromagnetic spectrum to help our military gain an advantage.
  • Signals Intelligence (SIGINT): Collect and analyze foreign signals to support national and CAF missions.
  • Cyber support to joint operations: Provide cyber capabilities across all domains: land, sea, air, space, and cyber.
  • Contribute to international partnerships: Participate in international cyber exercises, intelligence sharing and capacity building with our partners in NATO, NORAD, Five Eyes and the Indo-Pacific.
  • Support a whole-of-government approach to cyber operations: Work with the Department of National Defence (DND), Communications Security Establishment (CSE), Global Affairs Canada (GAC), Public Safety, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (CCCS) for unified cyber defence and policy.
