CFIRP 2009 - Clarification Bulletin 2

Clarification on leave in conjunction with HHT/DIT

Releasing Authority: Director of Compensation and Benefits - Administration- 17 Apr 09

Reference: CFIRP 2009

The following clarification is provided to the CFIRP 2009 Policy article 4.2.03

Background

DCBA has determined that, when travelling by commercial carrier, extending the return trip from the HHT/DIT location in order to accommodate periods of leave at destination does not increase the cost of the flight. For this reason, extending the return flight to accommodate leave at destination in conjunction with HHT/DIT will be authorized with no requirement to do a cost comparison. No other HHT/DIT benefits (ie ILM&M, car rental, dependant care assistance) are reimbursable for this period of leave.

TB authorizes CF members to proceed on HHT/DIT & TNL from origin to destination; therefore, stops enroute cannot and will not be authorized.

Clarification

In order to provide added flexibility to CF members proceeding on HHT/DIT, the following statement is added to article 4.2.03:

CF members may extend the return date (advance departure date) of their commercial travel from/to destination with an approved leave pass. Reimbursement of any additional HHT/DIT benefits (ie ILM&M, car rental, dependant care assistance) is not authorized for the period of leave.
