(CV) What's it like to be representing Canada at the world's largest international maritime warfare exercise?

Honestly, it's pretty damn cool! And it's an opportunity of a lifetime to get into it.

(CV) Good morning everyone! I'm Major Chris Vernon.

I'm the National, Command & Support Element Commanding Officer here, at RIMPAC 2022, and I'm gonna do the 60-seconds challenge.

"Why is RIMPAC important?"

So, to me, RIMPAC is important, because it gives Canada a chance to show what they're capable of in the greater international scheme of things. And show that our navy actually can provide to an international coalition.

"Did you have the opportunity to learn from any of our allies?"

So far, we've already made linkages with the Australians and the New Zealanders. And the intent is to share some of the lessons learned from each of our organizations.

And hopefully, when we do this again next time, we can learn from what they did.

"What is your favourite part of the exercise?"

I would say the favourite part of the exercise is being a small cog in a massive part of the exercise, that, you know, Canada is a very, very small representation of what RIMPAC has to offer. And there's a whole lot of cool stuff going on in Pearl Harbor and Hickam that we can influence and support.

"What's your favourite food in Hawaii?"

So, the favourite local here is loco moco. It's basically some rice, a cheeseburger and an egg on top of it. And it's in every restaurant you can find.

(Interviewer) That's it!

(CV) That was quick, wow!

(Interviewer) Ha, ha! That was great!

(CV) Ha, ha!
