Transcript

BGen Holman: Arguing was always part of something I was interested in doing when I grew up, and trying out the legal profession seemed like a good idea.

BGen Holman: I'm Brigadier General Rob Holman, I'm the Judge Advocate General, and I'm here to take the 60 Second Challenge. Here we go.

What does the Judge Advocate General do?

BGen Holman: So, the Judge Advocate General is the legal advisor to the government, to the Minister, to the department, to the Canadian Armed Forces in matters related to military law, and superintends the administration of military justice in the Canadian Forces.

What are you looking forward to most as being the JAG?

BGen Holman: Really, it's the opportunity to continue to work and lead the members of the office of the JAG. It's a fantastic team, full of dedicated, smart, hard-working people, and I'm really looking forward to being a part of that for the next four years.

When travelling for work, what reminds you of home?

BGen Holman: The photos on my phone, more than anything else.

If you weren't a legal officer, which other profession would you choose?

BGen Holman: I did, in fact, I was a pilot before I went to law school. And if I wasn't a lawyer, I think I would still happily be flying airplanes.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about joining the Canadian Armed Forces?

BGen Holman: Fantastic organization, fantastic opportunities to learn, to grow, and to change course if you find that your interests change over the course of time. So, absolutely, we'd be really happy to have you. Thanks!
