Transcript

CWO Marshall: Somehow, I’m not feeling much like Tom Cruise.

BGen Horner: Is it the hair?

CWO Marshall: It might be.

BGen Horner: I’m Brigadier-General Chris Horner,

CWO Marshall: And I’m Chief Warrant Officer Jamie Marshall,

BGen Horner: And we’re the command team for 3 Canadian Space Division, and we’re ready to blast off in 60 seconds.

If you could time travel, what decade would you visit?

CWO Marshall: The sixties, so I could see the first space launch.

How does 3 Canadian Space Division support CAF operations?

BGen Horner: We ensure that CAF has access to the space domain to conduct operations globally, through a different set of mechanisms and capabilities, to allow our war fighters to bring power to the edge.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?

CWO Marshall: Trust your team.

Why is space important to Canadians?

BGen Horner: Space is important to Canadians because our everyday life relies on the capabilities that are on orbit. Whether it’s how we get after the internet or how we share information with each other, we need space every day, and that’s why we’re here to defend it.

What is your favourite little-known fact about space?

CWO Marshall: I just learned that the milky way smells like raspberries.

BGen Horner: Amazing.

CWO Marshall: Look it up.

BGen Horner: What would you tell someone interested in space force employment within the CAF?

CWO Marshall: That they’ll be a part of an incredible team doing awesome things for the defence of Canada in the space domain.

BGen Horner: And that, friends, was the grand journey through space in 60 seconds. Thank you.

CWO Marshall: Rocket-ed it.

BGen Horner: Rocket – rocket-ed? We rocket-ed that, for sure.
