DT News: the CAF are conducting three concurrent efforts as part of Operation CARIBBE

Video / February 24, 2021

The Canadian Armed Forces are conducting three concurrent efforts as part of Operation CARIBBE, Canada’s support to U.S.-led counternarcotic operations in the Caribbean Sea and Eastern Pacific ocean. This partnership helps control and disrupt drug trafficking and organized crime in South and Central America.

HMCS Moncton is deployed in the Caribbean Basin for detection and monitoring, while HMCS Saskatoon and Brandon are deployed to the eastern Pacific Ocean with similar duties.

Additionally, the Royal Canadian Air Force and Air Detachment-CARIBBE is supporting coast-to-coast surveillance as part of the operation. A CP-140 Aurora departed for Central America at the end of January.

Every year the CAF helps strengthen international partnerships by deploying on this operation.
