(E) The Canadian Armed Forces is strengthening its process to select leaders at the General Officer and Flag Officer level.

Changes are being made to the selection assessment to reinforce the CAF’s commitment to inclusivity and to better ensure that those selected for leadership truly embody the ethos that CAF members and Canadians expect of their military.

A Gender-Based Analysis Plus review of scoring criteria was conducted, ensuring representation of voting members.

Candidates recommended for promotion are also subject to a new post-selection “360 degree” assessment whereby feedback is gathered from a diverse group of evaluators regarding an individual’s leadership effectiveness, including subordinates, colleagues and supervisors.
