Each May, we celebrate Mental Health Week to highlight this important part of our overall health. It is an opportunity to learn about what mental health means, and how to cope with the things that may be affecting it.
It’s easy to overlook the impact that everyday stress has on us. But it’s important to know the signs of difficulty with mental health, and learn the strategies that can help us to take care of ourselves, and one another, when we become overwhelmed.
Our Canadian Forces are strong and resilient as they proudly serve Canada across the globe, but their service can take a toll. We are working hard to ensure that they have everything they need to take care of their mental health.
Through programs at our Military Family Resource Centres, our 24/7 member assistance line, the Employee Assistance Program, and many others, we are helping to support our Veterans, our Defence Team members, and their families. If you need support, please reach out.
It’s never too early or too late to start taking care of your mental health. This Mental Health Week, I encourage everyone to #GetLoud about mental health.
