Hi everyone.
It’s an honour to celebrate National Public Service Week—and this year feels especially meaningful to me.
It’s remarkable how much the civilian members of our Defence Team do to keep Canadians safe.
And as a Member of Parliament here in Ottawa, I’m proud to represent many of you who work in the public service.
Service comes with pressures, expectations, and sacrifices.
I know how sometimes you feel your work often goes unseen or unheard.
Rest assured; Canadians see that work. And it matters to them.
To the civilian members of the Defence Team: you are helping to strengthen Canada’s defence and security.
You support the Canadian Armed Forces—helping them succeed at home and abroad. You reinforce Canada’s reputation as a trusted Ally in NATO and NORAD, and a reliable partner around the world.
It was a pleasure meeting many of you this week at the National Public Service Week event at Carling. I look forward to continuing to connect with you, our incredible public servants, throughout the year.
Whether you work in policy or procurement, research or review services, intelligence or infrastructure, or any other speciality, you contribute meaningfully to protecting Canadian citizens.
So today, I simply want to say: thank you. Please take time this week to celebrate. You’ve more than earned it.
