Two Years of Strong, Secure, Engaged

Transcript

Two years ago, we released our new defence policy, Strong, Secure, Engaged, a costed and fully funded, transparent vision of our Canadian Armed Forces for the next twenty years. It is a plan to make the Canadian Armed Forces strong at home, secure in North America and engaged in the world.

Our women and men in uniform are at the heart of our defence policy. We are ensuring that they and their families have the support they need to do the challenging work we ask of them through initiatives like Seamless Canada, tax relief for members serving on international operations, and full time summer employment for our Reservists.

And we launched the Transition Group to ensure that, when the time comes, our members are ready to make a successful transition to post-military life.

We are tapping into Canada’s best and brightest minds through our IDEaS program. We have received over 600 submissions this year, and we have awarded millions of dollars to those with innovative solutions to complex challenges faced by our Canadian Armed Forces.

Strong, Secure, Engaged outlines a new and innovative approach to procurement. Whether it is supplying our Royal Canadian Navy with its next generation naval fleet, or providing equipment like night vision goggles. When we make a promise to our women and men in uniform, we deliver.

Through Strong, Secure, Engaged, we are making progress on providing what our Canadian Armed Forces need. And while we have accomplished a lot, we still have a lot more work to do.

We will keep working together to implement Strong, Secure, Engaged, This is what Canadians expect and what our women and men in uniform deserve.
