Civilian Employees: Knowing Your Position
October 23, 2020 – Defence Stories
You have the right to understand the work you’re asked to do and where your role fits in the bigger picture.
You can request the following documents that are related to your position:
- Work description: describes the nature of the work – have a conversation about how your manager sees each key activity in the job description apply to your work.
- Rationale: describes the classification decision based on the scope of responsibilities.
- Organizational chart: graphically represents the hierarchical arrangement of work and lines of authority at the time of classification of your position.
- Expanded position action report (EPAR): overview of the position title, number, classification or rank and the latest update to the position.
You can request these documents from your manager, an agent at HR Connect RH (1-833-747-6363), or from E-Class. If your position is mapped to a standardized job description, you can look it up in the Civilian Job Library (link accessible only on the National Defence network).
For more information, visit the E-Class portal (link accessible only on the National Defence network).
