November 13: Twitter Update from the Deputy Minister Jody Thomas

November 18, 2020 – Defence Stories

Friday Update: Today is #WorldKindnessDay. Kindness is a powerful tool and comes in many forms. What are you doing to be kind to yourself, your fellow #DefenceTeam members, or someone else who simply shares this planet with you?

The importance of respect and thanks to those who serve and have served doesn’t end because Veterans Week is over. This time can present ongoing challenges and emotions for many of us. Be aware, reach out to colleagues who may be struggling, and listen.

November 20 is the NDWCC Campaign deadline to make a pledge through payroll deduction. Every dollar counts. In a team as big as ours, our small individual donations can have a big overall impact: Every dollar counts!

Protecting ourselves helps protect others as well. Civilian employees will have seen the email about flu shots. We’ll give priority to the folks who are working onsite regularly. Not sure whether that’s you? Talk to your manager.

The annual DM/CDS Holiday Card contest is open. I love how kids’ minds work and I typically both laugh and cry looking through all the submissions. Details: Children of Defence Team members asked to design the 2020 DM/CDS holiday card.

Each individual’s action in this moment matters for all of us. Stay home if you’re sick. Adhere to public health guidelines. Wash your hands. Wear your mask. Keep your distance. If we all do our part—together—we can make a big difference. Thank you!
