December 11: Twitter Update from the Deputy Minister Jody Thomas

December 15, 2020 – Defence Stories

Friday update: The holiday season has started. If you haven’t already, now is the time to plan out how to take care of your well-being during this period. A good first step is planning in some down-time. Take some leave, please.

Specifically, please look into booking-off time when you’re totally unplugged from your job. Managers should work to support everyone possible getting some time off, while ensuring critical activities can continue.

Massive shout out to the teams of DGIS Policy and ADM (PA) Speechwriting for their unflagging diligence these past weeks supporting our Minister during his numerous virtual international engagements and calls. So impressive.

How do you feel about work this year? Please fill out your Public Service Employment Survey when it arrives in your inbox. This is one of the major tools we use to assess how we are doing to support the Defence Team workforce.

Many thanks to the Bargaining Agents for their involvement in this week’s Union Management Consultation Committee. Ongoing and open dialogue is critical for the well-being of our workforce, especially now.

Got a friend or CAF colleagues deployed right now? Hearing from home and knowing friends are thinking about you when you’re far away is always wonderful. Drop them an email, or send a card.

The gift of a COVID vaccine is coming, and this will be a deliberate, carefully planned rollout. Please be patient and keep safe this holiday season by making #COVIDwise choices, including staying home, wearing masks, and #washingourhands.
