June 25: Twitter Update from the Deputy Minister Jody Thomas

June 29, 2021 – Defence Stories

Friday update: We are a big #DefenceTeam with a ton on the go. And behind every project or initiative, every complex policy decision, every word written or spoken, are dedicated CAF members and DND public service employees. They deserve thanks.

Our Parliamentary load’s been heavy and the pros at DParlA did amazing work. Likewise, a busy Government agenda called for many Cabinet documents to be prepared. Kudos to our Cabinet Liaison folks for their meticulous work.

We have an astonishingly talented team of ADM(PA) Speechwriters. Their quality is excellent and they produce, produce, produce, giving much of themselves in the process. Big thanks to that exceptional team.

COVID means we had a lot more meetings, events and engagements online. We have a small but mighty team of three making a large number of virtual events work well and look professional. ADM(IM)’s Live Events Team: Thank you!

The Web Team out of DGMEC take the myriad content we produce (or receive) at DND/CAF and make it accessible online in accordance with GoC accessibility requirements. I’m grateful for their efforts amidst the volume and pressure.

HMCS Harry DeWolf is being commissioned this weekend. The efforts of thousands of Defence Team members—RCN; ADMs MAT, FIN, POL and others—contributed to this important moment. Their work is the reason we can celebrate this milestone.

I know there are many, many more of you out there whose dedication and efforts are driving us forward. We all bring something—sometimes big, sometimes small—and all together, we are making a difference. Thank you for all you do.

And…let’s be honest—love them or hate them—it’s hard not to be happy for Luke Richardson and the Montreal Canadians! Go HABS!!
