Would you like to maintain or improve your second language skills for your current or future job? No matter what your skill level is, the National Centre of Expertise for Language Training and Testing (accessible only on the National Defence network) can support you to reach your goals.
There are 2 services available:
1. Internal language training is designed for:
- Executives
- Ex equivalents
- Employees appointed to a bilingual position on a non-imperative basis who need a maximum of 200 hours of training
The training is provided by an internal team of teachers with an average of 10+ years of experience.
The content of the courses is designed according to the standard objectives determined by the Canada School of Public Service. It targets BBB, CBC, or CCC profiles.
At any time, the National Centre of Expertise offers:
- Diagnostic tests to establish a linguistic learning plan based on your own operational requirements
- A customized language training program
- A second language maintenance program
For more information on internal language training, reach out to P-OTG.OL.Training@intern.mil.ca.
2. External language training is offered as full-time group training to the following priorities:
- Priority 1: Employees who have been appointed to a bilingual position on a non-imperative basis and require more than 200 hours to meet the official language proficiency in a limited timeframe
- Priority 2: Following a re-identification process in which the position becomes bilingual or its linguistic profile has been raised.
- Priority 3: For career development, the program offers training based on availability of resources. If not feasible, please consult your manager to discuss other options.
To support this service, the National Centre of Expertise provides:
- A diagnostic test to determine the starting level
- A full-time group training program through the PSPC standing offers, where available
- A quality control service to follow up on students’ progress
- Internal support for repeated failures
