Military Spouse Employment Initiative Testimonial: Marianne Fortin

January 24, 2022 - Defence Stories

Amanda and I are from Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC). We are not military service members, but the Military Spouse Employment Initiative (MSEI) was shared with us by our Deputy Minister, Bill Matthews.

We had an opening on our team and wanted to start by offering a casual contract to the individual who would be working with Amanda. Of the staffing options open to us, I showed Amanda the MSEI. The process for getting CVs was simple, fast, and well supported. The team answered me promptly because we had to fill this role rather quickly.

The quality of the applicants who were a part of this initiative was second to none. We were able to select a few potential candidates from the pool that was referred to us. The candidates showed a great deal of interest, which was encouraging to Amanda, since she had had several candidates decline at the last minute. We recommend the Military Spouse Employment Initiative to all managers who are looking to fill a temporary or even indeterminate position. Thanks to the MSEI, we now have Myriam with us.

We are currently in the process of appointing Myriam Mallette to an indeterminate position. Thank you to the MSEI for your support with the hiring process. It is thanks to you that we have Myriam. To learn more about how to submit your application or to access the directory, visit the MSEI website or get in touch with the Military Spouse Employment Initiative Team.
