Message to Defence Team from Associate Deputy Minister Stefanie Beck

As it’s my first week here with you, I wanted to reach out and say hello. It is my great pleasure to join National Defence as your new Associate Deputy Minister, working in support of Minister Anand, Deputy Minister Matthews, our Chief of the Defence Staff General Eyre, our Vice Chief of the Defence Staff, LGen Allen, and—above all—each of you across the Defence Team.

My public service life has taken me to many places, at home and abroad, and I have had the honour to collaborate many times with members of the Canadian Armed Forces and public service employees from National Defence. I am continuously awed by your commitment and professionalism.

The people of this organization are called to service again and again, whether to advance our ever-evolving international security needs, or to help our fellow Canadian citizens in their hour of need, as you have done so ably during this pandemic and in response to natural disasters.

We also have challenges to confront together as we modernize our organization and strengthen the inclusivity of our team to better reflect Canadian society, making us stronger as we do so.

In the coming weeks I will be familiarizing myself with the many important elements that we must work together to achieve. I look forward to serving beside you, with great pride, as we work together to achieve these goals.
