Highlights from the Interim Clerk’s remarks at the #GetReal event

May 6, 2022 - Defence Stories

Dear Colleagues,

As we close Mental Health Week, I hope you have taken some time over the past few days to reflect on ways to prioritize your own mental health and help foster workspaces that encourage compassion and understanding.

Yesterday, I was honoured to speak at the Canada School of Public Service event #GetReal for Mental Health Week: Preventing and Managing Burnout at Work. The risk of burnout is a reality for many public servants and is something I believe we can significantly reduce with the right tools and empathic approach.

I encourage you all to watch this short clip from the event, where I spoke about the importance of self-care and avoiding mental burnout in the workplace.

Although Mental Health Week is coming to an end, let’s continue to have these important conversations and to build a safer workplace for everyone.

Take care of yourselves.

Janice Charette
Interim Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet
