Kickstarting the year with our first round of virtual Shout-Outs!

February 2, 2023 - Defence Stories

"Excellence is not a skill. It is an attitude." - Ralph Marston

Do you know of a co-worker who deserves a special shout-out or are you looking for a way to recognize someone who has made an impact, big or small? Virtual Shout-Outs are a quick and easy way for you to publicly recognize a colleague, or team of colleagues, for a job well done.

Here’s how to submit a Virtual Shout-out:

Note that shout-out recipients will be given the option to “opt out” of having their message displayed on the Bulletin Board (accessible only on the National Defence network) on the Maple Leaf and the Defence Team intranet, and submissions can remain anonymous.

Don’t delay! Virtually shout-out your hard-working colleagues today!

I would like to send a virtual shout out to Terence Dhanraj from ADM(Mat) who serves as a Client Liaison Officer. Terence has continuously proven to not only be efficient and timely in requests, but I can always guarantee that my requests are actioned almost immediately. Terence has proven to be such a tremendous support to our team and I know that amongst being extremely friendly, I can rely on our requests being fulfilled in a realistic timeframe. Thank you again Terence for always being supportive of DAIP and please know that your hard work has not gone unnoticed.

 –Jessica Bukovac (DAIP/ DAIPRP)

I’d like to give Mcpl Shannon Panter of Petawawa Release Section a shoutout.  She always goes above and beyond, from collecting toys for the Truckers Toy Drive, to food for the Petawawa Pantry, to Christmas Angels OPP programs, planning an amazing Holiday Party to making new colleagues feel welcomed.

Her hard work is noticed, and greatly appreciated and she is valued as a team member, as well as a person.

Thank you Mcpl Panter, you rock!

I would like to send a virtual shout out to Susan Plato-McLean. Susan is a wealth of knowledge WRT SWE and all salary related questions.  Susan has helped me on several occasions with anomalies and SWE related problems.  Just know, I really appreciate any and all your assistance.  Keep up the great work, you are truly an asset to MARPAC.

-Louise Lansdowne

Shout-out to Sgt Priscilla Dionne and Sgt Melanie Beaulieu at 5 CDSB Gagetown Corporate Services Branch. These two Sgt’s go above and beyond in assisting in the training of not only their own personnel; but all other FSA in our AOR; building strong connections in the FSA community by sharing their extensive Fin knowledge! They are always willing to go above and beyond – thank you Priscilla and Melanie for all you do!! You both rock!!!!

-WO Charlene Neish-Dobbs

I would like to shout out Deanna Janzen for her ongoing dedication and work excellence in supporting the Military Personal Generation Group Headquarters’ Human resources stabilization effort and future growth.  Through a sustained, candid and professional approach, she allowed the HQ leadership to fill its mandate by providing sound advice, maintaining steady contacts with HR agents/applicants and ensuring candidate’s files were properly and expeditiously staffed. This was accomplished throughout the Fall period while experiencing the impacts of quality HR shortage, a busy tempo and volatile post-pandemic environment.

-LCol Steve Lessard & LCol Kevin MacDonald, respectively MPGG HQ Senior staff and HQ CO

Shout out to Alexandra Bailey and Mary Semaan from HR for being such great role models in the workspace, they do so much heavy lifting and I can immediately tell they deserve some fabulous recognition. They’ve also been tremendously patient with me as I slowly enter this new field with a thousand and one questions. I’ve been inspired to work just as hard as you lot. Cheers to you both and cheers to Marta for building such a wonderful team!

-Charbel Chamoun

A big thank you to Cpl John Haskell and Cpl Kirby Dickson. For all the time and hours you put in working in the Orderly Room, the amount of claims, pay, working on cashier issues, releases, enrollments, all the other paperwork that we create and you process as well as all that paperwork that Div and Army want done yesterday.  Troops aren’t supposed to stay plugged in working all day, night and weekends to accomplish the task, but sometimes it happens, too often it happens.

This year has been too busy and the Orderly Room personnel were at the center of a lot of it.

We just wanted to say thank you.  We appreciate it even though it may not feel like it sometimes.

I would like to send a virtual shout-out to Tammy Kline. Tammy has been invaluable to her colleagues in the Atlantic Region’s Conflict and Complaint Management Services (CCMS). Regardless of her role, she is always happy to help, go the extra mile and do so with a smile. Without Tammy doing what she does, and doing it as well as she does, the CCMS’s capacity to function would be compromised and client service would be diminished. Bravo Zulu Tammy and thank you!
