Surgeon General Message: Canadian Forces Health information System

On Monday, April 24, 2023, our electronic health record, Canadian Forces Health information System (CFHIS), experienced technical issues impacting the transfer of information between its modules. This affects the communication between providers for patient medication profiles, immunization status, family history and diagnostic information. 

Resolving this issue to ensure patient safety is our top priority; efforts are underway and we anticipate an interim solution to be implemented in the coming weeks.

We assure you that your personal health information is safeguarded and recorded in CFHIS, and has not been compromised.

The next time you visit a Canadian Forces Health Services medical or dental centre for care, please ensure your health care provider is aware of any visits or diagnostic examinations you have had since April, 24 2023; this will contribute to the safety of the care you receive.

Until technical issues are addressed, your health care providers will be confirming your personal health information to maintain your safe care and ensure the most up-to-date data is recorded.
