Shout-Outs are in Full Bloom this May at National Defence!
June 2, 2023 - Defence Stories

“It’s very inexpensive to give a compliment.”
- Joyce Meyer
Do you know of a co-worker who deserves a special shout-out or are you looking for a way to recognize someone who has made an impact, big or small? Virtual Shout-Outs are a quick and easy way for you to publicly recognize a colleague, or team of colleagues, for a job well done.
Here’s how to submit a Virtual Shout-out:
- Email your shout-outs to the Corporate Awards and Recognition Secretariat and
- Provide the email(s) of the person(s) being recognized.
- Shout-outs are collected on an ongoing basis.
Note that shout-out recipients will be given the option to “opt out” of having their message displayed on the Bulletin Board (accessible only on the National Defence network) on the Maple Leaf and the Defence Team intranet (accessible only on the National Defence network), and submissions can remain anonymous.
Don’t delay! Virtually shout-out your hard-working colleagues today!
A virtual shout to Marie-France Langlois, Canadian Armed Forces Transition Group (CAF TG) Policy Manager, for her hard work and continued dedication to her team and to the CAF TG. As a new member to the CAF TG Team, Marie-France took me under her wing and provided me with the necessary tools and support to ensure I was set up for success right from my first day with this organization. Her wealth of knowledge, hard work and support is felt by all that have the privilege of working with her. Thank you, Marie-France, for being a true example of positive and transparent management that is rooted in acceptance, open communication and support. I look forward to your leadership and continued collaboration for years to come – bravo zulu!

The individual I am recognizing contributes to the success of our operations in so many ways I am sure he doesn’t even realize. On top of his regular duties, this keen and switched on individual manages a lot of the purchasing for the activities handled in his department. When purchase orders and quotes are not your area of expertise or maybe even you area of interest it can be a cumbersome task to navigate through. If this is the case with Cpl. Davies you would never know it.
Without hesitation I can attest that every interaction with this Cpl. Leads me to believe that not only does he know what he is doing, he excels at it to a point that other departments benefit from his effectiveness. Whenever I have had the chance to collaborate with him he always comes to the table well prepared, well researched, and well executed, this leaves a solid foundation for us to work off of and helps us do our job better. There is a very apparent sense of pride in the quality of work he produces and that is contagious in the best possible way. Further to that, Cpl. Davies is always eager to help out, if he can lend a hand his attitude always seems to be “why not?”. His patience and understanding runs deep, his commitment to excellence is strong and apparent, his personality is enjoyable, and his dedication is admirable.
I appreciate this small outlet to truly let this member know just how amazing he is to deal with. Cpl. Davies you are exceptional with the work you do and it is noticed by more people than you realize. Thank you greatly for being so great!

I would like to send a big shout out to Shelby Friedsam, our Contracting Officer at NPTG HQ. She always goes the EXTRA mile to ensure any contracting requests are accurate, complete and this, on many occasions, has Shelby reviewing Statements of Work for many hours prior to the files going further up the procurement chain for action.
Her dedication is noteworthy and she deserves an extra thank you!
Thank you Shelby!!
Warmest regards,
- Heidi
