The Defence Team recognizes Canada's Healthy Workplace Month
 

Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month (CHWM) provides an opportunity to explore the factors that contribute to a healthy workplace, and to promote practices that help each of us feel valued, safe, and healthy both at work and at home.

This week’s theme is “Physical and Mental Health Well-being” and Defence Team members are invited to participate in the following activities to help promote a healthy workplace now, and throughout the year:

Join the wellness webinar: Beyond Stigma: Increasing Our Understanding of Mental Health in the Workplace

In today’s society, there remains a lack of awareness, and sometimes bias, regarding mental health problems.

This wellness session will assist participants in enhancing their understanding of the personal and environmental factors that can have an impact on mental health, the common signs and symptoms of mental health troubles, and the most appropriate prevention and intervention strategies.

Join in this week’s Healthy Workplace Challenge

What is one simple thing you or your team can do this week to make the workplace a little healthier and safer? Choose one of these easy, fun healthy workplace challenges to help foster physical and mental well-being in your workplace: 

  1. Put up a Wellness Wall:  Post healthy eating tips, exercise activities, wellness events, and more on a “wellness wall.” Encourage everyone to share their ideas here.
  2. Promote walking as a simple, effective way to support your health. Try one of these:

3. Schedule recess: Go outside, socialize with each other, and enjoy some fresh air!

4. Implement Mindful Mondays: Bring your team together for scheduled mindfulness sessions.
