Virtual Shout-Outs – Bulletin #36
March 1, 2024 – Defence Stories
Check out who is keeping up the great work in the February shout-outs!
"Showing gratitude is one of the simplest yet most powerful things humans can do for each other."
– Randy Pausch
Do you know of a co-worker who deserves a special shout-out or are you looking for a way to recognize someone who has made an impact, big or small? Virtual Shout-Outs are a quick and easy way for you to publicly recognize a colleague, or team of colleagues, for a job well done.
Here’s how to submit a Virtual Shout-out:
- Email your shout-outs to the Corporate Awards and Recognition Secretariat, and
- Provide the email(s) of the person(s) being recognized.
- Shout-outs are collected on an ongoing basis.
Note that shout-out recipients will be given the option to “opt out” of having their message displayed on the Bulletin Board (accessible only on the National Defence network) on the Maple Leaf and the Defence Team intranet, and submissions can remain anonymous.
Don’t delay! Virtually shout-out your hard-working colleagues today!
The C2I section of DRDC Valcartier would like to recognize Geneviève Lessard for her workshop on non-violent communication during the section retreat.
Geneviève agreed to take on this challenge as a volunteer outside of her regular work duties. Thanks to her expertise and experience in the field of mental health, she was able to describe sometimes abstract concepts in a concrete way, enabling personal reflection for each member of the section. Her communication skills were appreciated by all the staff in the section and she offered us a range of tools to better communicate with each other.
Thank you again and congratulations Geneviève!

Diana Montgomery is excellent at her job. She is always extremely organized, she offers insightful comments and suggestions to participants in the courses she teaches as well as to her co-workers, and she really cares about her work and the future of Learning. She is willing to step up as Team Lead when needed, and she is constantly helping with projects and committees. Diana should be recognized for her outstanding work and contributions to the Learning and Career Centre as well as the Department of National Defence.
– Michaela Pilotte
I would like to give big shout out to the Women of CFB Esquimalt Base Executive, they are often the last to leave and first to arrive. They treat each other with dignity and respect and I see a completely open dialogue of communication flow back and forth. What you see is what you get with them, they lead with authenticity! WYSIWYG. I have so enjoyed being under their leadership, and I have learned a lot from each of them. Specifically I am talking about Danielle Smith, Pam Alix, and Olivia Wade… Their Fierceness reigns supreme!
– Kristina MacLean
I would like to send a virtual shout out to Annie Winchester at ADM(HR-Civ). Annie is a Coordinator of Official Languages who took time out of her day to help me with connect my screens and docking station. This is by no means her responsibility but she was kind enough to help me and it is much appreciated.
– Natalie Rochefort
I would like to recognize all the work of the HMCS CAR team, all SHO teams, the team responsible for the unit’s archives as well as Lt(N) Balaganthan and everyone who worked for the last LCI 2024 for everything related to the Admin/Pay section. This year, we had 91%, and the LCI, the inspection carried out by the NAVRES department lasts 3 days, and they do a check of the entire unit, so the fact of having had a grade of 91% demonstrates the excellent work of the entire team together. The S3 key from the SHO to the COX’N and the XO of the unit, once again BRAVO!
– Marc-André Champagne
I would like to give a shout out to Mathieu Cinq-Mars for being such a helpful colleague. Mathieu has been supporting me with some ongoing struggles and thanks to his excellent networking skills, resourcefulness, and ability to take initiative he was able to resolve an issue that has been ongoing for several months within only a few hours. Thank you for being an exceptional colleague and member of the Defence Team. Mathieu!

Thank you to the entire Central-Atlantic team of TDSS for your ongoing dedication to our clients and maintaining a high level of service delivery through all of the challenges we’ve experienced during the past few weeks. Your professionalism, teamwork, and frequent communication have been greatly appreciated while we navigate through changes and obstacles together. I couldn’t have wished for a better team. Keep up the great work!
– Diana Montgomery, A/Team Lead, Central-Atlantic Team, TDSS
I would like to give a shout out to Mariela Ileto with DLP 8 for taking the time to share her experience with the solicitation process for one of her files. I have a very unique requirement and I have been working with the Technical Team to develop an RFI to get industry feedback. Mariela had a similar procurement, and when I asked if she could share any feedback she was quick to respond and we set up a meeting. Her input was extremely useful and provided great guidance for myself and my client. Not only that, be she ensured that her student with the PG Academy joined us on the call so they can gain some understanding on how different teams can lend support and reinforced the importance of knowledge sharing- she sets a great example!
– Kayla Shabsove
Maj Mylene Bouchard is an awesome leader at our base. She is always there to listen, guide, and provide us training in many areas of our work. Her dedication to her job and country is exemplary. It has been an honor working for her.
– Tracy Sreedhar
Melanie Provost-Guilbeault is a huge asset to our team and DND. She’s kind, respectful, and helpful to anyone who asks. Not only is Melanie helpful to her colleagues on the team, but she also goes above and beyond the help other human resources assistants on other NSO teams! She’s a hard worker, and what I appreciate the most about Melanie is that she is an amazing problem solver! She consistently thinks outside the box to find innovative solutions to facilitate not only her own workload, but her colleague’s as well. She’s an integral part of our team, and of the NAST team as a whole as well. We can always count on her.
