Virtual Shout-Outs – Bulletin #37
March 28, 2024 – Defence Stories
Spring is back, and so is this round of Virtual Shout-Outs!
"Keep your eyes open and try to catch people in your company doing something right, then praise them for it."
– Tom Hopkins
Do you know of a co-worker who deserves a special shout-out or are you looking for a way to recognize someone who has made an impact, big or small? Virtual Shout-Outs are a quick and easy way for you to publicly recognize a colleague, or team of colleagues, for a job well done.
Here’s how to submit a Virtual Shout-out:
- Email your shout-outs to the Corporate Awards and Recognition Secretariat, and
- Provide the email(s) of the person(s) being recognized.
- Shout-outs are collected on an ongoing basis.
Note that shout-out recipients will be given the option to “opt out” of having their message displayed on the Bulletin Board (accessible only on the National Defence network) on the Maple Leaf and the Defence Team intranet, and submissions can remain anonymous.
Don’t delay! Virtually shout-out your hard-working colleagues today!
I would like to give a shout out to Capt Emily Philibert, whose resourcefulness and leadership were key to the successful installation of an MDA satellite communications solution for IDEaS at JTFN Yellowknife. Her support and persistence throughout the trial planning and implementation, in spite of wildfires, snow and other challenges, were critical to achieving this milestone. The MDA and DRDC teams are very grateful.
– Dr. Tricia Willink
I’d like to send a virtual shout out for Cpl Jenna Chellew. She is one of our Dental Techs here at 1 Dental Detachment Petawawa. Jenna is attentive and organized. She is always willing to give a helping hand and takes on so many creative tasks to help promote morale at the clinic. Jenna excels at organization and has such attention to detail making our lives easier every day. Jenna will go above and beyond to get you the answer you need. Her door is always open, and she always checks in on people. She is the definition of a team player. Thank you for being you, Jenna!
– Lora Daley
Big shout out to Luciana Di Biagio, Steeve Gabriel, and Simone Nunes-Jonczyk on their tireless work as part of the GC Workplace Accessibility Passport implementation team!
From day one, you’ve been rockstars in your roles supporting the launch of the GC Workplace Accessibility Passport, never shying away from a challenge through every twist and turn. It’s been an unforgettable journey with plenty of ups and downs, but your support and enthusiasm never wavered. Your tireless efforts have been invaluable, and so has your support when things got tough. Thanks to you, we’re making real strides toward a workplace where everyone feels welcome and supported. You’re not just colleagues; you’re change-makers! Looking forward to continuing this incredible journey together. We couldn’t be more grateful!
– Renée Hall, Justin Ford, and Maha Abdawi
I would like to request a virtual shout-out to our peer Valérie Brousseau of ADM(DRDC) / COS / DRDRSPM. Valérie came to us only 8 short months ago to become our L1 Expert on the Defence Scientist-Salary Administration System (DS-SAS). Having only 5 short months crossover to learn a complex portfolio, she recently attended her first DS Boards and absolutely crushed it! Our small Strategic Staffing Team is extremely proud of the hard work Valérie has input to master the portfolio, provide excellent customer service to her client base, and manage and administer the annual DS Boards this past winter. We would like to highlight her exemplary achievements for a very well-deserved Bravo-Zulu!
– Sincerely, your proud SST team-mates
Glenn Whitaker has been amazing in supporting the Learning and Career Centre team. There have been a few course sessions where the facilitator was unable to get in due to technical difficulties. Glenn was quick to jump in and facilitate last minute, saving us from cancelling or postponing a session. I would like to recognize Glenn’s helpfulness, resourcefulness, resilience and for being an amazing team player.
– Michaela Pilotte
Congratulations to my fellow classmates Kim Warren and Scott Liang, who completed the first level of our SLT training session. Your hard work and determination is paying off. I would also like to send a big thank you to our instructor Akima Briss, who has been instrumental to our success! We appreciate you and all your help!
– Tyna Dubois
In honour of International Women’s Day, I’d like to highlight the excellent performance of Avr Laurence Gagnon, 2 Svc Tech Services, Saint-Jean Garrison, who in the past year has shown enormous potential despite her junior rank. She occupies the position of Master Corporal with great ease. Airman Gagnon occupies an essential and sensitive position within the Platoon. She manages her daily life with a minimum of supervision and takes full responsibility for her decisions! A promising future and an extremely efficient military member!
I’m extremely proud to work with a colleague of this calibre!
A huge THANK YOU and BRAVO!
– Étienne Legendre
