April 30, 2024 – Defence Stories

Way to Go! Nice Work! Keep it Up!

Spring has sprung at National Defence! Check out this round of Virtual Shout-Outs.

"Appreciation can make a day, even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary."

– Margaret Cousins

Do you know of a co-worker who deserves a special shout-out or are you looking for a way to recognize someone who has made an impact, big or small? Virtual Shout-Outs are a quick and easy way for you to publicly recognize a colleague, or team of colleagues, for a job well done.

Here’s how to submit a Virtual Shout-out:

Note that shout-out recipients will be given the option to “opt out” of having their message displayed on the Bulletin Board (accessible only on the National Defence network) on the Maple Leaf and the Defence Team intranet, and submissions can remain anonymous.

Don’t delay! Virtually shout-out your hard-working colleagues today!

I would like to highlight the extraordinary dedication of Ms. Marie-Christine Gauthier. For years, Ms. Gauthier developed a project for the National Defence laboratories, on her own time and on her own initiative. Through her hard and professional work, Ms. Gauthier was able to support the quality improvement team put in place to bring to life a major project that will have an impact on all clinics across Canada. Her constant efforts made it possible to achieve the team’s objectives in record time and obtain essential and comprehensive information.

– Dany Daigle

I would like to give a shout out to WO BGS Ellis, who’s resourcefulness and patience were key for me to be able to achieve and conquer my new role within DND DGMC as a civilian member. WO Ellis de-mystified many of the acronyms and helped me maneuver some of the applications used in my day to day.

His help and willingness to walk me through a variety of procedures only known or done here at DND was exceptional and very much appreciated.

– Lynne Thompson

We would like to give a shout-out to Christine Dubiniecki, an Epidemiologist with the Strengthening the Forces team for all the time and work she produced a Situational Assessment of the Strengthening the Forces Program. A Situational Assessments is a complex undertaking and the results will be used to inform the future goals, objectives, target audiences and activities for the CAF health promotion strategy.

Christine led the project to completion with vision. She garnered a large group of stakeholders, managing many complex relationships. She obtained research funding and ensured a beautifully design report with infographics that can help with knowledge translation. Truly an assessment above and beyond what had ever been done for Strengthening the Force health promotion program.

– On behalf of Dr. Véronic Clair Dr. Darell Menard and the whole STF Team, thank you!
