Come and learn about supportive and restorative opportunities offered through the SMSRC RE program

May 13, 2024 – Defence Stories

The Sexual Misconduct Support and Resource Centre (SMSRC) is hosting another series of information sessions for its Restorative Engagement (RE) program. The RE program provides supportive and facilitated restorative opportunities for CAF-DND Sexual Misconduct Class Action Members to be heard and acknowledged, and for Defence Representatives to learn, understand, plan, act, and lead as catalysts for change, supporting the Institution in ending sexual misconduct.

These information sessions are designed for members of the CAF-DND Sexual Misconduct Class Action Settlement who have expressed interest in the RE program, or for Defence Team members looking to engage as Defence representatives.

Attending an information session as a class member will provide you with the information on the supportive restorative opportunities available to you and can help you decide if you want to participate in the RE program. We hope you will get the information you need to make a choice about participating.

As a Defence Team member, you may be interested in participating in RE as a Defence representative. These information sessions describe what you might expect if you choose to participate, and how the experience can support culture change. You can actively contribute to fostering a more respectful and inclusive culture within the Defence community through your participation.

All information sessions offer a time at the end of the presentation to ask questions to the program staff. They are led by experience Restorative Practitioners who can answer your questions. You will also remain anonymous to other participants attending.

View the list of available information sessions to attend a Microsoft Teams Live Event. Sessions are scheduled in the spring and summer, but more dates will be added for the fall.

If you have questions regarding these sessions or the program, we invite you to contact the RE program team by email at RE-DR@forces.gc.ca or by phone at 1-833-998-2048.
