Example of the date on ID/building pass
Security screening is a condition of employment or service, relative to the position held, which must be fulfilled before the commencement of duties. In all cases DND employees and CAF members must hold a minimum of a reliability status to access DND and CAF facilities, assets, resources and information that are Protected A or B. For Protected C or classified files, a Secret or Top Secret clearance is required.
- It is the employees/members responsibility to ensure that their security clearance is up to date:
- Reliability status – every ten years
- Secret clearance – every ten years
- Top Secret clearance – every five years
Important Note:
The expiry date on ID card/building pass does not correspond with the expiry date of your security clearance. Ensure that both are valid.
How do I verify if my security clearance is up to date?
To view and maintain your security clearance, contact your designated Unit Security Supervisor (USS). This can also be viewed on Monitor Mass.
