Dear Colleagues,

There are moments in time that crystallize how proud I am to be a public servant. These past two months have demonstrated the professionalism, dedication and excellence of each and every public servant across the country. Thank you for everything you have done for Canada and Canadians.

Together, we accomplished so much in a very short period of time. We professionally supported fair and free elections, and transitions between prime ministers and another to a new government mandate. We also coordinated a historic visit from His Majesty The King, who delivered the Speech from the Throne here—something not seen in Canada since 1977.

Through it all, you have continued to deliver results for Canadians during a time of economic uncertainty and global instability. In the face of extraordinary challenges, and under tight deadlines, you have consistently risen to meet the moment. Underlying all your exceptional efforts is a desire to build a culture of quality throughout the public service, based on our shared values and ethics and grounded in compassion and caring.

As we move forward, I have every confidence that your tremendous dedication, commitment and work ethic will overcome any unforeseen future challenges in our service of Canada and Canadians.

Sincerely,

John Hannaford (he/him)
Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet
