On August 20, 2025, Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Alex Arndt was appointed Formation CWO (FCWO) within the Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers Group (CJCR Gp) during a change of appointment ceremony held in Ottawa, ON.
CWO Arndt began his military career as an infantry soldier in the reserves before joining the Regular Force as a Signals Intelligence Specialist (Communicator Research Operator) and in 2017 became one of the first members of the Cyber Operator trade. As a graduate of the Army Technical Warrant Officer Program, CWO Arndt brings valuable experience in project management, capability development, and lifecycle management to the CJCR Gp Formation.

By way of a Component Transfer to the Cadet Organization Administration and Training Service (COATS) CWO Arndt has elected to extend his existing 35 years of combined service to Canada and leverage his CAF training and experience to shape the next generation of young Canadians into confident, responsible, and engaged leaders through the Cadet and Junior Canadian Rangers (JCR) programs. And through his technical network and professional relationships built over that career, CWO Arndt is well positioned to enhance and improve the experiences these programs deliver.
“I think it's undeniable that Cadet and JCR Programs provide Canada's youth with skill sets that they don't always get an opportunity to develop elsewhere”, CWO Arndt said while visiting the facilities of His Majesty's Canadian Ship (HMCS) Quadra Cadet Training Centre and engaging with senior cadets and adult staff about summer training.

“It is evident that these programs are shaping the future of Canada by empowering youth to become engaged, civic-minded citizens and strengthening communities through the development of confident and capable leaders”.
As the senior non-commissioned member of the formation, CWO Arndt will play a vital role in advising the Commander and serve as a key mentor and role model for the Formation’s 8,000 COATS members and 60,000 cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers that collectively strengthen the 800+ communities the two programs serve from coast to coast to coast. He will build on this legacy of professionalism, responsibility, and national pride by guiding these youth development programs that promote CAF values, citizenship, and leadership.
