The Soldier’s Handbook on the Law of Armed Conflict Applicable to Land Warfare is now available for online access and PDF download on Canada.ca. This Handbook provides a practical guide on key issues related to the application of the Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC) to traditional, state-on-state armed conflict.
The Soldier’s Handbook is a deliberate action on the part of the Judge Advocate General to provide every member of the Canadian Armed Forces access to accurate and useful training and resources for the application of LOAC and empower them to make LOAC-compliant decisions.
It complements existing CAF doctrines such as the Code of Conduct for CF Personnel (B-GG-005-027/AF-023) and The Law of Armed Conflict at the Operational and Tactical Level (B-GG-005-027/AF-021), as well as training courses such as the Intermediate Law of Armed Conflict course available through the Canadian Forces Military Law Centre.
