The Director of Official Languages (DOL) is pleased to present the Fall 2025 edition of its quarterly newsletter (accessible only on the National Defence network).
This publication is one of several initiatives led by DOL to foster a lasting culture of linguistic respect and uphold individual official language (OL) rights within the Department of National Defence (DND) and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). It reflects our ongoing commitment to the principles of the Official Languages Act (OLA), the Treasury Board’s Official Languages Policy and Directives , and the DND/CAF Official Languages Strategy (accessible only on the National Defence network).
In this issue, DOL introduces to Defence Team members the newly appointed OL Co-Champion, MGen Martin Gros-Jean. Also, Capt(N) Vincent Pellerin, DOL, provides advice on Linguistic inclusion in management practices. He shares relevant information on how to build a management culture that speaks two languages.
Kyna Sivret, OL Complaint Analyst at DOL, informs us on the importance of language of work on collaborative and document management platforms, under the theme: Promoting Respectful and Equitable Communication in the Workplace. Another important topic in this edition concerns the rights and obligations in performance evaluation.
DOL hopes that this information channel will help raise the level of understanding of OL rights and responsibilities among the entire Defence Team and motivate everyone's commitment to respect the OLA, particularly through the sharing of best practices within our organization.
