Canadian Armed Forces members work together to overcome an obstacle during training, demonstrating teamwork, trust, and mutual support, key values of the “iCare for CAF” initiative.

Fueled by the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) values of inclusion, courage, loyalty, respect, and accountability, “iCare for CAF” is a new health promotion call-to-action for CAF members of all ranks to look out for one another. Being an aware and supportive team member means living these values through your actions every day. Connecting with your team and understanding what is happening in their lives is something you can easily do to help to create a respectful, compassionate, and trusting work environment where all team members feel valued.

Great strength can be shown through simple acts of connection such as reaching out with a quick, “Hi, how’s it going?” or “Can I give you a hand with something?” These small gestures can have a big impact. A bonded, healthy team will be happier and ready to take on the mission, but it takes every team member’s effort to get there. At the same time, your own self-care is also critical to being a fit team member.

Consider how caring makes a difference:

Each of us faces unique challenges in our day-to-day lives. iCare is a reminder of the small, everyday actions that build strong teams and resilient people. Each step is simple, but together they make a powerful difference.

It’s easier to navigate our professional and personal lives knowing that someone has our back and cares about our well-being. This call-to-action and its values can be applied through the CAF to manage challenges through a united, supportive approach.
