CDS/DM Message: Establishment of Canadian Joint Forces Command (CJFC)
December 4, 2025 - Defence Stories

We are pleased to announce the formal establishment of the Canadian Joint Forces Command (CJFC) effective November 25, 2025, and the promotion and appointment of Lieutenant-General Darcy Molstad and Chief Warrant Officer Donovan Crawford as its inaugural command team.
The CJFC reflects a shift in mindset toward integrated joint capabilities and signals a move toward thinking and operating in a more unified way across all areas of defence. Just as the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, and Royal Canadian Air Force develop and manage their respective environmental capabilities, the CJFC will do the same for joint capabilities across the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). By coordinating and consolidating these capabilities under a single command, the CJFC will create efficiencies while increasing the CAF’s operational effectiveness. The future is joint, and this is about building a culture of integration and agility to meet the complex security challenges we face.
The following organizations will initially be integrated within this new Command:
- Chief of Combat Systems Integration
- Canadian Joint Warfare Centre
- Director General Health Services / CF Health Services Group
- Chief of Joint Logistics
- Joint Information and Intelligence Fusion Centre
The Canadian Forces Military Police Group will also join the CJFC once legislative changes are made, although it will maintain its vital policing independence under the National Defence Act.
Chains of command of impacted organizations have informed their personnel, and integration efforts are underway.
The CJFC will continue to evolve as it matures, adapting to meet operational needs and enabling the Defence Team to remain mission-ready. More details on the CJFC will be communicated in the new year. For those interested in learning more, please visit the CJFC website or ask your chain of command for more information.
We encourage members of the Defence Team to support this new organization in its mandate and to embrace the opportunities it presents for innovation, interoperability, and operational excellence.
The creation of the CJFC is the result of extensive collaboration across the Defence Team, and we thank those who contributed to its ongoing development.
Thank you for your continued dedication and service.
