The Defence Community Support and Resource Centre's (DCSRC) Peer Support Program joins organizations across Canada in recognizing Global Peer Support Celebration Day on October 15. This year's theme, “Peer support belongs here,” highlights how shared lived experience can strengthen support networks and create a greater sense of connection and belonging within communities.
DCSRC Peer Support Program
The DCSRC Peer Support Program, in partnership with Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), supports members of the Defence community affected by sexual misconduct during their service or in their workplace. Through virtual activities such as yoga sessions, peer support groups, informal coffee chats, and more, participants can take time for self-reflection, connect with others who share similar experiences, and strengthen their support networks.
Global Peer Support Celebration Day provides an opportunity to recognize the contributions of peer supporters. It also serves as a reminder that healing and growth are often supported through connection with others who understand our experiences.
On this day, we encourage members of the Defence community to learn more about the services offered through the Peer Support Program and discover how peer support can contribute to their well-being, resilience, and recovery. For more information about the Program and available supports, visit the Peer Support Program website.
After all, wherever people seek understanding, connection, and hope, peer support belongs here.
