New application for the Air Force

News Article / January 23, 2012

The recent adoption of FlightProTM at 425 Tactical Fighter Squadron at 3 Wing Bagotville, Que., is the start of an automated fleet and resource management capability that will be delivered to more than 40 flying units across the RCAF within two years.

425 TF Squadron was the first site to receive this scheduling and qualifications tracking tool that marks the end of using whiteboards, excel spreadsheets and access databases to manage the schedule and flying crew.

Upon completion of the project, all air force units will, for the first time, manage their air crew’s qualifications and currencies as well as schedule them to assigned and locally generated missions from a standard and supported application designed specifically for these functions.

The tool is a proven application, used by both Australian and Finnish air forces as well as the NATO Flying Training in Canada, located at 15 Wing Moose Jaw, Sask. As a result, many of the RCAF’s pilots are already familiar with FlightProTM. It is currently being implemented at 417 Combat Support Squadron at 4 Wing ColdLake, Alta.

425 Squadron moved to FlightProTM as the sole system for its scheduling and qualification tracking early last fall.
