Update on death of Canadian Armed Forces Member in Gagetown
May 25, 2016 – Gagetown, New Brunswick – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces
Corporal Christopher Webster from 5th Canadian Division Support Group Signal Squadron collapsed during a unit run on the Hazen Park running trail outside 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown on May 24, 2016. CPR was administered immediately at the scene, and the member was transported to Oromocto Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Corporal Webster joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2009 as a Regular Force member. He was serving as an Army Communications and Information Systems Specialist (Information Systems Technologist).
As the incident did not take place on Department of National Defence property, the investigation is being conducted by New Brunswick Coroner Services.
“Cpl Christopher Webster was a devoted soldier, spouse and father. His confidence and character was an inspiration to those who knew him. He showed commitment and skill in his role as a Signaller, but that was eclipsed by his dedication to his children. He will be dearly missed by both his immediate family and his extended military family.”
Colonel Daniel MacIsaac, Commander of 5th Canadian Division Support Group
