Canadian Army soldiers head to Poland in support of Operation REASSURANCE

February 22, 2017 – Edmonton, Alberta – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces
Today, the first group of Canadian Army soldiers from 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group, based in Edmonton, Alberta, departed for Poland in support of Operation REASSURANCE.
From now until early March, approximately 200 soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry will relieve fellow brigade members, who will return home over the coming weeks. Throughout their approximate six-month deployment to Poland, the soldiers will take part in several multi-national interoperability exercises with NATO allies. Participation in Operation REASSURANCE offers the Canadian Army a platform to enhance Alliance interoperability and readiness on the world stage.

- Deployments of Canadian Army personnel to Eastern and Central Europe have been taking place since 2014, with a view to enhance Alliance interoperability and readiness. Together with Polish, American and other NATO allies, troops participate in various airborne and infantry operations training events.
