Chief of the Defence Staff message to Royal Military College of Canada graduates
Statements
I want to extend my congratulations to the 98th graduating class of the Royal Military College of Canada. Today is the culmination of hard work and perseverance on behalf of you and your academic and military staff. You should be proud of this well-earned first step in your career with the Canadian Armed Forces.
While I hope you take the time with your family and friends today to enjoy your success, keep an eye to the future, as this is only the beginning. You still have an entire career full of challenges and lessons that will help you constantly adapt and evolve so as to meet the defence needs of Canada.
As you progress further in your career, keep in mind that you are only as good as the way you treat the people who work for you. Be humble and professional in everything you do. Remember that leadership is a privilege, not a right.
I have high expectations for each of you. As you progress through your career, those expectations will become greater and more demanding; make sure you challenge yourself and those whom you lead to go further, to do better and to demonstrate excellence all the time.
Good luck. Do great things. Take care of your troops!
Jonathan H. Vance
General
