June 25, 2018 – Ottawa – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces

Media are invited to participate in a one-on-one telephone interview with the Commanding Officer of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s (NATO) enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Latvia (eFP BG LVA), Lieutenant-Colonel Sean French.

The Canadian-led, multinational battle group celebrated its first year anniversary on June 19, 2018. The 1150-strong battle group includes approximately 450 Canadian Armed Forces soldiers, as well as troops from Albania, Czech Republic, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain. The battle group is based at Camp Ādaži, near Riga, Latvia.

Op REASSURANCE is Canada’s contribution to NATO assurance and deterrence measures, which demonstrates Canada’s ability and willingness to react rapidly to international crises and to work side by side with our Allies to reinforce NATO’s collective defence. It also shows the strength of Alliance solidarity.
