Operation REASSURANCE Maritime Task Force Update

April 1, 2019 – Ottawa, Canada – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces

Media are invited to participate in a telephone interview with the Commanding Officer of HMCS Toronto and Commander of Operation REASSURANCE Maritime Task Force, Commander Martin Fluet. The task force is the maritime component of Operation REASSURANCE, Canada’s contribution to NATO assurance and deterrence measures in Central and Eastern Europe.

Who: Commander Martin Fluet, Commander of Operation REASSURANCE Maritime Task Force and Commanding Officer of HMCS Toronto.

When: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. EST, Thursday, April 4, 2019 and Friday, April 5, 2019.  

What: Individual phone interview about HMCS Toronto’s participation in Standing NATO Maritime Group Two’s (SNMG2) current deployment in the Black Sea. SNMG2 is currently deployed to the Black Sea for three weeks in accordance with the Montreux Convention. SNMG2 is conducting exercises and maritime patrols to help preserve peace and promote security in the region.
