Minister Blair to visit Paris, France to strengthen international support for Ukraine

The Honourable Bill Blair, Minister of National Defence, will visit Paris, France on February 26, 2024.

On behalf of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Minister Blair will attend a Conference on Support for Ukraine at the Élysée Palace hosted by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron. At this working meeting, Heads of State and Government or their representatives will discuss ways to strengthen the cooperation of partners in support of Ukraine.

Minister Blair’s visit to Paris will follow his trip to Kyiv, Ukraine on February 24, 2024, to mark two years since Russia commenced its illegal, full-scale invasion of Ukraine. During his trip to Ukraine, Minister Blair accompanied Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the signing of the Agreement on Security Cooperation Between Ukraine and Canada.

Following their visit to Ukraine, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and Minister Blair also met with Canadian Armed Forces members deployed to Poland February 25, 2024. The Ministers witnessed efforts to train members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with life-saving combat medical skills.
