Interview opportunity with outgoing Commander of Canadian-led Standing NATO Maritime Group Two

Media are invited to participate in a one-on-one interview with Commodore Matthew Coates, Commander of Standing NATO Maritime Group Two (SNMG2) on December 2, 2024. Commodore Coates will be handing over command of SNMG2 in a ceremony on December 3, 2024, at Aksaz Naval Base in Türkiye.

SNMG2 is a multinational, integrated maritime force made up of warships from various allied countries. These warships, including their air assets, are permanently available on a rotational basis to NATO to perform different tasks ranging from participating in exercises to intervening in operational missions.

The last time Canada provided a commander for SNMG2 was in 2019.

Who: Commodore Matthew Coates, Commander, Standing NATO Maritime Group Two

When: 8-10 a.m. EST, December 2, 2024.

What: One-on-one interviews. Telephone and virtual options available. Interviews will be booked in 15-minute blocks.
