Rocky Mountain CTC Joining Instructions
CTC Services
Laundry
Course cadets will be provided laundry service at least once a week at no cost.
Laundry service will not be available during the 6-day expedition for the Expedition Team Member (ETM) course and 12-day expedition for the Expedition Team Leader (ETL) course.
Staff cadets will have access to washers/dryers to do their own laundry. They are required to bring their own laundry detergent and fabric softener sheets, or they may purchase it from the cadet canteen.
Irons and ironing boards are available for use.
Canteen
The canteen provides a social atmosphere where cadets can relax after a long day of training. Snacks and beverages are available for purchase. Depending on availability, cadets can purchase toiletries, polish, souvenirs, etc. Prices are modest and any proceeds are put back into the CTC to benefit the cadets.
Telephone/Internet
Phones are available at no cost to allow cadets the opportunity to contact home as necessary.
Cadets are authorized to bring cellular phones to the CTC, but there is no cell coverage on site. WiFi connection will be available outside the training hours. The CTC or RCSU(NW) does not take any responsibility for the loss or cost of inappropriate use of a cellular phone.
Accommodations
Cadet sleeping quarters are multi-occupant and access restricted. Sleeping accommodation consists of two-tier bunk beds. Storage for personal belongings is provided via Steel lockers, “barrack boxes” or similar to those in schools provide security for cadets’ personal belongings. Cadets are expected to bring their own padlocks.
All bedding (sheets, blankets, pillows) is provided.
Electrical outlets are available in every room.
Washrooms are in a building adjacent to the cadet sleeping accommodations.
Visitor Access
Access to Rocky Mountain CTC is restricted to authorized personnel only. Visitor will be required to report to the Military Police Office at the Headquarters Building-S1 upon arrival at the Training Centre. Visitor will be required to pre-arrange visit or pick-up and produce Government-issued photo identification.
Clothing
The CTC is located at 4500’ above sea level where normal morning and evening temperatures range between 5-10º C. Cadets are advised to ensure to bring suitable warm clothing such as a sweater and coat.
Medical
Cadets who become ill or injured during authorized CCO Activities (Cadet Activity) are eligible for certain health and dental care entitlements, further information can be found here: Medical Care for Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers.
Course Specific Information and requirement
Cadets attending Expedition Courses
In addition to the items on the packing list cadets attending Expedition courses are recommended to bring (not mandatory) the following items as there will be no laundry services during the expedition portion of the courses:
- Water shoes or a secondary pair of running shoes
- Quick dry clothing
- Extra pairs of underwear and socks
Cadets attending Drill and Ceremonial Courses
No specific requirements.
Cadets attending Pipes and Drums Courses
Cadets are permitted to bring musical instruments to the CTC; however, it is not required as the CTC will provide an instrument for each cadet undergoing musical training. The CTC or RCSU(NW) does not take any responsibility for the loss, damage or cost of repairs for personal instruments. It is highly recommended that personal instruments brought to the CTC have insurance to cover any damage.
