Canadian Cadet General Order (CANCDTGEN)

Access to Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers Group Information Systems When Travelling Outside of Canada

  1. Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers Group (CJCR Gp) information systems, including Cadet365, the Canadian Cadet Organizations Network (CCO Net), and their related applications, align with both Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) and Department of National Defence/Canadian Armed Forces (DND/CAF) security and design guardrails. They have been configured to meet the unique needs of the CJCR Gp.
  2. CJCR Gp has the responsibility to protect information about the organization and its people. CJCR Gp information systems are available to CJCR Gp staff, cadets, and volunteers via publicly owned, government-provided equipment such as laptops, phones, tablets, etc, and privately owned, personal devices.
  3. The ability to access CJCR Gp information systems on personal devices means that CJCR Gp staff, cadets, and volunteers have an increased responsibility to safeguard information and data; therefore, access and use is restricted based on geographical considerations. CJCR Gp information assets function within Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and the United States of America without additional approvals. Access from additional countries may be approved on a case-by-case basis when there is a specific training or work/service requirement. This direction applies to the access of all CJCR Gp information systems via Cadet365 or CCO Net via Remote Desktop.
  4. CJCR Gp personnel may request authorization to conduct work outside of Canada via their chain of command. Approval to work/serve outside of Canada rests with the Regional Cadet Support Unit/CJCR Gp Headquarters Commanding Officer or their designate. Requests must include confirmation of approval from the individual’s chain of command acknowledging employment/service and the requirement to access Cadet365 or other CJCR Gp information systems while in the respective country. Unless specific approval has been granted, CJCR Gp staff, cadets, and volunteers are not to access Cadet365 or other CJCR Gp information systems outside of designated countries. All devices, whether government-provided or privately owned, are to be logged out of Cadet365 accounts when travelling outside of designated countries.
  5. Any questions concerning geographic access restrictions for CJCR Gp information systems may be directed to the IT Service Desk at IT@cadets.gc.ca.
