NOTICE OF RACE –
YEAR NATIONAL REGATTA

Introduction

1. This Notice of Race (NOR) is issued in accordance with references A and B by the National Regatta Steering Committee. It contains information and direction specific to the year National Regatta not included at reference A or which supersedes it.

2. The Steering Committee is responsible for the event’s planning, organization and coordination as well as for monitoring its conduct.

Location and dates

3. In year, the National Regatta will be held in location, from date to date (not including travel days). In addition, team members and staff cadets will take part in cultural visits and recreational activities in location on date.

Races

4. Rules. This Regatta will be governed by the edition Racing Rules for Sailing, including the Canadian Yachting Association prescriptions, this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions.

5. Fleet. Teams will race in sailboat type sailboats provided by the support RCSU.

6. Fleet Class. Races will be conducted in a single fleet class in which crews may sail with the spinnaker and trapeze.

7. Number of Races. Quantity (number) races are scheduled to be held, quantity (number) of which are required to constitute a series.

8. Course Layout. The course will be set in accordance with reference C, Chapter 7, Figure 7.01, courses “A”, “B”, or “C”.

9. Scoring System. Races will be scored using the Low Point Scoring System, as described at reference A.

10. Under this system, if 6 races are completed, teams may discard their worst score. If 10 races are completed, teams may discard their 2 worst scores.

11. Registration and Warning Signals. This information will be promulgated in the Sailing Instructions.

Teams

12. Teams Allocations. In year, quantity (number) teams are invited to compete. Team vacancy allocations for each region are established in accordance with reference A. In year, regional allocations are as follows:

13. Vacancy Re-allocations. Team vacancies left unfilled by their RCSU after the 01 July entry deadline will be reallocated in accordance with CATO 34-03.

14. Entry. In order to enter a team in this Regatta, RCSUs shall forward team members information requested on the attached electronic form to the Regatta Chair not later than 01 July. RCSUs are to make sure individual team member CF51s are received by the Regatta Chair not later than 01 August.

Awards

15. The following medals, plaques or trophies will be awarded to the top three teams:

1. the trophy name Trophy to the first place team;
2. the trophy name Trophy to the second place team;
3. the trophy name Trophy to the third place team;
4. the award name Award for outstanding sportsmanship; and
5. the award name Award for excellence in seamanship.

Coaches

16. RCSUs shall forward, the information requested on both their coaches on the attached electronic form to the Regatta Chair not later than 15 July.

Staff

17. A list of the positions open for competition will be promulgated in the annual directive not later than 01 March in accordance with CATO 34-03.

Movements

18. Team and staff movements’ details will be promulgated in the annual directive not later than 01 March in accordance with CATO 34-03.

19. Coordination and conduct related questions may be directed to the Regatta Chair, name and rank, at telephone number or at email address.

20. Policy and organization related questions may be directed to the Steering Committee Chair, name and rank, at telephone number or at email address.
