Context
The Sniper Systems Project will procure equipment specifically designed to provide Canadian Army’s snipers and sniper observers with dominant capabilities in the areas of upgraded sniper weapons, new sights, cameras, ammunition, night vision and improved concealment, personal protection, and load carriage.
The project will provide the Canadian Army with a coherent and operationally relevant sniper capability optimized for complex and urban terrain by:
- Providing a system for a high probability of single shot effectiveness at all the required ranges using advanced ballistic calculations,
- Providing enhanced night vision, and
- Reducing the weight and bulk of mission specific equipment by maintaining close liaison with other projects for equipment compatibility and common sustainment capability.
This project will dramatically improve the Canadian Army’s sniper capability by providing a sustainable equipment quantity and quality, for sniper, sniper team, sniper detachment, and sniper section.
