Five innovative technological Chaudière-Appalaches companies receive $1.7 million

March 1, 2017 – Saint-Lazare-de-Bellechasse (Quebec) – Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Up to 26 new jobs in the manufacturing sector could be created through a $1.7 million federal investment that will prepare Quebecers working in that sector for the jobs of the future.
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED), applauded the investment during his visit in the province.
The funding is awarded under the Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP).

Repayable contribution of $250,000 out of a total investment of $1,100,000
Founded in 1984, Côté Inox operates in stainless steel processing. It specializes in designing, manufacturing and installing equipment made of metal or stainless steel for various industries, in addition to the usual sub-contracting services (laser cutting, bending and stamping of sheet metal) for contracting parties.
The project aims to improve the company’s productivity and competitiveness for growth purposes. It involves purchasing and installing new production equipment (e.g. robotic polishing cell, press brake and metal plate roll) and quality-control equipment, which will boost the company’s production capacity and its productivity.
The project is expected to create 5 jobs.

Repayable contribution of $500,000 out of a total investment of $2,010,000
Established in 1979, Menuiserox manufactures standard or custom furniture, cupboard and staircase components as well as hardwood mouldings and panels. The tree species used are birch, red or white oak, maple, beech, white ash, Brazilian cherry, walnut and poplar.
The project aims to improve the company’s productivity and increase its production capacity. The activities include setting up an optimized cross-cutting line and an automated panel manufacturing line.
The project is expected to create 2 jobs.

Repayable contribution of $500,000 out of a total investment of $1,250,000
Established in 1993, Novatech Patio Doors inc. is a manufacturer of custom entry doors, door glass, patio doors, retractable screens and insulated glass. The company sells exclusively to window and door manufacturers in Canada and the United States.
The project aims to increase its production capacity and start marketing an innovative product. The activities include purchasing and installing, in three phases, the equipment needed for the new aluminium door/window platform (digitally controlled machine tool, saws, rolling machine, wrapping machine, work stations, lift truck, tools, computer equipment, etc.) as well as carrying out marketing activities.
The project is expected to create 10 jobs.

Non repayable contribution of $261,000 out of a total investment of $326,250
Mécanium is a college centre for technology transfer (CCTT) affiliated with the Cégep of Beauce-Appalaches. The organization provides manufacturers with information, consultation, technical assistance, training in and technical assistance with developing and implementing technological innovation projects.
The project aims to strengthen Mécanium’s technology transfer capacities through the use of clean technology, a new proto-typing tool, which the organization intends to make available to its educational partners and manufacturing companies calling upon its services to optimize their products and processes.
The project is expected to create 2 jobs.

Repayable contribution of $200,000 out of a total investment of $788,100
Founded in 2000, PCM Innovation inc. specializes in designing and manufacturing assembly tools and composite molds. This company also provides assembly stations, manufacturing systems, molds for composite materials, and prototype or short-run parts.
The project aims to improve the company’s productivity and competitiveness for growth purposes. It involves purchasing a digitally controlled vertical lathe and expanding the factory to add a clean room and metrology room for improving the quality-control process.
The project is expected to create 7 jobs. |
