Iles-de-la-Madeleine families will benefit from improved community spaces that support a better quality of life

July 25, 2017 – Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec – Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
As a result of an investment of over $600,000 by the Government of Canada, families in the Îles-de-la-Madeleine region will be able to benefit from upgraded recreational areas and modern community facilities. The funding provided will generate more than $1.3M in related investment by other partners, such as non-profit organizations and municipalities.
The Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Minister of National Revenue and MP for Gaspésie–Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED.
The six recipients are: Paradis Plein Air l’Archipel, Centre récréatif Étang-du-Nord, Comité des loisirs de Grande-Entrée, Club de l’Âge d’Or de Grande-Entrée, Centre des loisirs de Fatima and the Municipality of Grosse-Île, for its community centre.
This investment was made through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150), a $300M fund set up to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary. The Program supports the renovation or upgrading, including the expansion, of community infrastructure that brings Canadians together. Up to $63.5M of this funding will be spent in Quebec.
